Arabella wasn't always an etherean, she actually comes from Earth. She was a normal human, living a normal life until she meet Oktober. They grew closer and eventually became best friends. Things started going south when they realized Carmine, Oktober's old corrupted acquaintance, was also on Earth. Carmine has been corrupted for decades so there was practically no way of saving him anymore. A corrupted etherean who left Etherea was never a good sign, so they kept a close eye on him. Unfortunately Carmine was aware of another etherean's presence on Earth. He managed to capture Oktober kept him prisoner. Arabella went through a lot of trouble to find them and saved Oktober's life. He took her to Etherea where the council for interstellar travel granted her the title of an arisen. To arise is very much an honor and is granted to intellectual life forms that did an act of honor for the planet Etherea. You also have to pass certain tests and afterwards you're given a halo which allows the person to transform into an etherean. The etherean form cannot under any conditions have special powers, such as natural ethereans have. The priviledge can of course be taken away if neccesary.
